Guided by three years of research and consultation with local stakeholders including shoppers, retailers and community leaders, the revised masterplan is a thoughtful mixture of aspirational design grounded by local needs.
Known as a shopping destination ‘where fashion lives’, the retail space in Burnside Village will be significantly expanded with the addition of around 130 new specialty stores supported through the expansion of the existing Atrium Mall and creation of new spaces interlinked with lush green laneways.
Additional dining options including a fresh food precinct and an alfresco dining rooftop garden will celebrate the local surrounds through offering an opportunity to enjoy local produce within a highly landscaped, open air space. A new luxury cinema will further entice visitors to the centre, alongside increased leisure and entertainment offerings.
Also included in the proposed redevelopment are new office and commercial spaces, as well as additional undercover parking.
The project will be capped by improved street frontages providing synergy with the reimagined lush interior of the project.
The $350 million two-stage upgrade to the centre is scheduled to take place over a 10-year period starting in late 2019.
